Day 1: Makassar – Arrival – City Tour (serving Dinner)
On arrival at Airport meeting service by our Guide and transfer by private car to Makassar, the capital of the province. After check-in at the hotel, you will have a City Tour visiting Fort Rotterdam which is the old harbor of Paotere and watches the sunset at Pantai Losari (Losari Beach). Dinner at a local seafood restaurant and return to your hotel for overnight.
Day 2: Makassar – Bantimurung Waterfall – Sengkang (serving Breakfast & Dinner)
After breakfast, start your overland to Sengkang which is a quiet little town by Lake Tempe, famous for colorful silk sarongs. On the way visit Bantimurung waterfall located in a steep limestone valley with lush vegetation, popularly among the scientists as “the butterfly valley”. These brightly colored butterflies were indigenous to this area, considered among the most beautiful in the world. Afterward, proceed to Sengkang and we shall try to catch the beautiful view of the sunset by taking a boat ride at Lake Tempe. Lunch on the trip, dinner will served in traditional Bugis style and overnight at the local standard hotel at Sengkang.
Day 3: Sengkang – Palopo – Rantepao, Toraja (serving Breakfast & Dinner)
After breakfast, you will visit a traditional silk weaving home industry before leaving for Toraja via Palopo, an important fishing port at the Bay of Bone. After lunch at Palopo the two hours drive to Rantepao through rolling hills and winding road offers superb views. As the first encounter with Toraja, you will visit Nanggala, a traditional village with 14 big rice barns in front of two Toraja houses of the former king of Nanggala. Lunch on the trip, dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 4: Full-day Toraja Excursion (serving Breakfast & Dinner)
Breakfast will be served at the hotel , a full-day excursion will exploring highlights of the region. Visit the cliff graves at Lemo where burial chambers are cut out of the rock and several balconies are filled with “tau-tau” effigies of the dead. The ancient cave graves at Londa, buried many members of the local nobility. Ke’te Kesu, a traditional village famous for its woodcarving and paintings. After lunch visit the hanging grave at Marante village. The market of Rantepao with arrays of handicraft and souvenir shops is an interesting place to visit before returning to your hotel. Lunch at local restaurant, dinner and overnight hotel.
Day 5: Toraja Excursion and Nature Walk (serving Breakfast & Dinner)
After breakfast, drive to Pallawa an excellent village to see beautiful “tongkonan” or Toraja house. Afterwards, drive up to Batutumonga. At an altitude of 1300 meters, it offers superb views over Rantepao and the surrounding valleys. The nature walk will take two to three hours walking exploring the off-tourist path through small village compounds, with plantations of coffee, vanilla, cloves, bamboo trees, and walk through the rice field. It is truly a beautiful descent to Tikala where the car is awaiting to transport you back to the hotel. Lunch at local restaurant, dinner and overnight hotel.
Day 6: Tana Toraja – Pare Pare – Makassar / Airport (serving Breakfast)
After breakfast, transfer to Makassar Airport. Lunch on the trip at a local restaurant in Pare-Pare then drive to Sultan Hasanuddin airport of Makassar to catch your afternoon flight to next destination.
